Survivor Justice New York

An independent expenditure committee calling on Governor Kathy Hochul and Attorney General Letitia James to hold the New York State Prison System to the same standard it is demanding of Cornell University.

More than 1,500 women have filed lawsuits alleging they were sexually abused by guards in New York State prisons.

After nearly three years of delaying justice, the State is asking a court to dismiss these cases. At the same time, Governor Hochul and Attorney General James are taking action to investigate Cornell University over the alleged rape of a student. Why are Governor Hochul and Attorney General James investigating Cornell University, but doing nothing to investigate and reform their own prison system where more than 1,500 women have alleged sexual abuse?

Sexual abuse by state prison guards is as appalling as abuse by fraternity members.

We demand that Governor Hochul and Attorney General James hold the State prison system to the same standard as Cornell University.

It is time to bring justice to women who were sexually abused in New York State prisons. These women have waited long enough.
